Army intensify new techniques to fight rising internal security threats

The Nigerian Army has declared that its internal research and development (R& D) department has enhanced its internal security operations across the country.
The Commander of the Nigerian Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, noted that the Army is using outputs of it’s research and development (R&D) to strengthen its operations and tackle modern security challenges.
He Stated this at the opening of the 2025 Nigerian Army Research and Development, Test and Evaluation Conference held in Minna, the Niger State capital.
He explained that the conference is part of the Army’s annual events designed to train officers, share knowledge, and explore new ideas in technology.
According to him, R&D will help the Army discover better ways of serving Nigeria and improve success on the battlefield.
He explained that the event would also give participants the opportunity to reflect on field experiences, discuss new technologies, and find solutions to current security threats.
Aligbe praised the dedication of Nigerian troops working day and night to keep the country safe and urged participants to remain committed to advancing knowledge adding that the conference would improve cooperation between security agencies.
In his welcome address, Maj.-Gen. Aminu Shehu-Chinade , the Chief of research described the event as the beginning of a new era where technology is shaping how people live and work.
He stressed that R&D plays a vital role globally, and the Nigerian Army is also adopting it to remain effective.
Participants from other security agencies, including the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and the NDLEA, also attended the event.
They were encouraged to make meaningful contributions to achieve the best results in knowledge sharing.
“This is a fact that the Nigerian Army NA and indeed, the country at large cannot run away from, we must continue to invest in R&D so as not to be left behind in our quest for development” General Aligbe said.
The Commander also used the forum to acknowledged ” the untiring efforts of our troops out there toiling day and night to keep Nigeria safe” adding that ” moments like this gives us a veritable platform to reflect on those experiences and point new ways forward”
