The New vice chancellor of the Alex Ekwueme federal University Ndufu Alike, Prof. Daniel Nwachukwu at the weekend has vowed to boost the internally generated revenue, IGR, of the varsity with the intent to develop the varsity infrastructurally.
Nwachukwu made this known while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki shortly after being elected as the New vice chancellor of the Alex Ekwueme federal University Ndufu Alike by the governing council.
The Nations News reports that Nwachukwu before his emergence as the New Vice Chancellor of AE-FUNAI, had worked as the deputy vice chancellor University of Nigeria Enugu Campus.
According to him: “God has his reason for bringing me here and I want to assure both staff and students of AE Funai that this is a new beginning, that this is my hometown.

“Coincidentally, my people originated from Ikwo. So we are going to work together to make the place a great place.
The New vice chancellor, Nwachukwu who has worked for over 26 years further revealed his administration’s preparedness to make the institution the most viable institution in Nigeria by creating a conducive environment for learning.
“My primary focus, first and foremost, you can see the place needs infrastructure. It needs visibility. Student population is very small and you can’t have students when you don’t have infrastructure.
“And we need to also discuss and dialogue with the host communities towards, you know, making sure that we do the needful for them too.”A university should be a university, not university and village put together in a single place. I wasn’t pleased when I saw it. It’s a problem, And we are going to solve that problem.
“And, also the university needs money to run and we are going to diversify our idea, have several streams of generating money to run the place.
“That’s our priority because, and we’re also going to partner with the private sectors to bring them to assist us to build infrastructure that we desperately need in AE Funai” he stated.
