Ebonyi Correspondents’ chapel elects new chairman, secretary

The Ebonyi state Correspondents’Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has elected Uchenna Inya and Christian Ogbonna as it’s new Chairman and secretary.
Inya is the state correspondent of The Sun Newspaper, while Ogbonna of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) as it’s Secretary.
Inya polled a total of 27 votes to defeat his opponent, Moses Nwite of the Voice of Nigeria (VON) who scored 5 votes.
The keenly contested election was conducted in the chapel office at spera-in-deo plaza, Abakaliki by a three- man credential screening committee headed by Amechi Odo of Radio Nigeria, Abakaliki.
32 our of the 34 members of the chapel, participated in the election which was monitored by the state council of NUJ
Odo commended members of the chapel for conducting themselves orderly during the election.
He called for continued unity in the chapel applauded the members of the chapel for turning out en mass to vote for the candidate of their choices.
The state Chairman of NUJ, Samson Nwafor hailed the peaceful conduct of the election.
He called on winners of the election, especially the new chapel Chairman to see his victory as a call for more service.
He advised Inya to make amendments in the areas he didn’t do well as Acting Chairman to move the chapel forward.
Nwafor who was Chairman of the chapel, urged Nwite to support Inya to succeed and see the election as the wishes of members of the chapel.
In his acceptance speech, Inya applauded the members for the confidence reposed in him through their overwhelming votes and enjoined them to continue to give support.
