‘Why I resigned from PDP – Ex-Imo gov. ihedioha revealed

The former governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has stated the reason why he resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party, to join other political parties in the state.

Ihedioha made this known shortly after submitting his resignation letter to the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State chapter, which was copied to the national chairman and the board of trustees of the Party on Wednesday.

According to him: “Earlier today, I submitted my resignation letter from the People’s Democratic Party.

“My dedication to democratic values and good governance in our dear state, Imo, and the nation at large, remains steadfast.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that the former Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha was a founding member of the party since 1998.

The resignation letter reads in part: “Since 1998, I have contributed my quota to the development and transportation of the Peoples Democratic Party, as one of founding members.

“All these years, I have taken pride in fact that the People’s Democratic Party is a party that will always look inward for internal reform and provide credible leadership to the people, whether in power or outside power.

“I have had the benefit of serving and benefiting from the party at various levels. Regrettably, in recent times, the party has taken a path that is at variance with my personal benefits.

“It is in the light of the forgoing, that I’m compelled to offer my resignation from the People’s Democratic Party effective immediately, while this decision was difficult to take, I, however believe that it is the right one” he stated.
