Budget: Adamawa approves N609.1bn for 2027 fiscal year

…Approves N459m for procurement of Biology instructional materials

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a N609.154 billion budget envelope for the 2027 fiscal year, with 54.45 percent earmarked for capital expenditure and 45.55 per cent for recurrent spending.

The approval was given at the 12th Executive Council Meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as part of the state’s preparations for the 2027 fiscal year.

The Council also approved N459 million for the procurement of Biology instructional materials for 84 secondary schools across the state. 

The intervention is expected to improve practical science teaching and strengthen Biology education in public schools.

In a separate approval, the Executive Council earmarked N248 million for the electrification of Morawo and Zungwalu communities in Demsa Local Government Area to improve electricity supply and support economic and social activities in the affected communities.

The Council further approved the engagement of a consultant to undertake a technical readiness assessment for partnership with the Rural Electrification Agency. 

The assessment is intended to position the state to access about $5 million in World Bank funding for rural electrification projects.

If secured, the funding will support the expansion of electricity infrastructure to underserved communities, with expected benefits for agriculture, healthcare, education, small businesses, and digital connectivity.

The approvals form part of the state government’s efforts to expand infrastructure, improve public services, and promote economic development through increased investment in critical sectors.
