Nweze hails Tinubu’s approval of 330km road projects in S-East, Says projects will boost Economy

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-East), Chioma Nweze, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the dualization of two major road projects covering 330 kilometres in the South-East and neighbouring regions.

The projects are the 150-kilometre Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube–Okigwe Junction Road, spanning Anambra and Imo States, and the 180-kilometre Otuocha–Anam–Ibaji Road, which connects Anambra and Kogi States.

Nweze, in a statement issued to journalists on Thursday, described the approvals as a landmark development that would transform transportation, enhance trade, and accelerate economic growth in the region.

She said the projects represented a new dawn for infrastructure development in the South-East, adding that improved road networks would strengthen commerce, reduce transportation costs, and increase access to markets.

According to her, the Oba–Nnewi–Uga–Ihube–Okigwe Junction Road has suffered years of neglect, affecting the movement of people, agricultural produce, industrial goods, and business activities along the corridor.

“The newly approved dualization is expected to significantly improve travel efficiency, enhance road safety, and unlock fresh economic opportunities across the region,” she said.

Nweze also noted that the Otuocha–Anam–Ibaji Road would serve as an important link between the South-East and North Central regions, promoting inter-state trade and regional integration.

The presidential aide described the approvals as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to balanced infrastructure development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She said the projects would support agriculture, encourage industrial expansion, reduce logistics challenges, and attract private sector investment.

Nweze further stated that the initiatives complement other ongoing federal road projects aimed at developing an efficient national transport network capable of driving sustainable economic growth.

She called on residents and stakeholders across the South-East to support the successful execution of the projects, emphasizing that infrastructure development remains critical to job creation, economic prosperity, and national development.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Tinubu administration to delivering projects that promote connectivity, strengthen economic activities, and improve the quality of life of Nigerians across the country.
