2 APC Senators, Shehu Buba, Dahuwa defect to PRP in Bauchi

The All Progressive Congress (APC), has loses two senators in Bauchi State as Senator Shehu Buba Umar and Senator Sama’ila Dahuwa defect to the People Redemption Party (PRP) over the choice of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar as the APC governorship candidate in the state.
Senator Buba, who planned to contest the APC governorship primaries but pulled out 24 hours before the scheduled date due to what he cited as a lack of internal democracy

And manipulation of the governorship primary process, has today been announced as the PRP consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Bauchi State.
For Senator Sama’ila Dahuwa, he joined the APC months ago after resigning from the PDP, but it appeared he was going to be denied a return ticket to the Senate, a move that prompted his decision to join the PRP.
Dahuwa was announced as the PRP consensus candidate for Bauchi North in the 2027 election.
Conducting the exercise, the National Vice Chairman for the North, Haruna Buhari, said all aspirants met the requirements of the PRP constitution and electoral guidelines.
“Senator Shehu Buba Umar, having fulfilled all requirements of the law and constitution of the PRP and the electoral guidelines.
“I hereby declare him the duly elected gubernatorial candidate of the PRP for the 2027 general election,” Buhari announced.
He described Umar as the right choice for the party, citing his capacity to mobilize support and win elections.

While the State party Chairman, Abdulraham Muazu said the PRP was positioning itself to spring surprises in Bauchi in 2027.
He noted that the party was fortunate to have a serving senator with Umar’s political experience and reach as its flagbearer.
