Benue commissioner’s wives visit orphanage home to celebrate women’s day

Wives of members of Benue State Executive Council under the umbrella of Association of Spouses of Commissioners in Benue State has visited Mama Abayo Orphanage Home in Makurdi.to commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.
The visit is also in line with the association’s humanitarian commitments to the well-being of the downtrodden.
Speaking during the visit, the President of the association, Bamidele Orgunga, explained that the gesture was aimed at showing love and compassion to the children as mothers.
She commended the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Theresa Ekwe, for her unwavering support and commitment to the welfare and plight of women and children in the state.

Orgunga however assured that the association would continue to mobilise support for the administration of governor Hyacinth Alia and remain united behind their husbands.
They commended Governor Alia for his developmental strides recorded within the shortest period of time and for initiating people oriented programmes for people of the State.
The wives of the commissioners, during the visit, donated various items including foodstuffs, clothing materials, toiletries, beverages, as well as cash to support the children at the orphanage.

Meanwhile, the association has hosted a dinner in honour of their spouses at the residence of the Commissioner for Finance, Chief Michael Oglegba.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of gifts by the spouses and cultural display.
