Bandits wreak havoc in Bauchi, kill 5 police officers, injure 2 others

No fewer than five police officers have been killed by bandits who ambushed them in Bauchi State.

The Bauchi State Police Command who confirmed this incident at the weekend, stated that two other police officers  equally sustained injuries.

The command stressed that the victims were violent ambushed by suspected Fulani bandits in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area.

The command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil in a statement signed and issued to newsmen on Sunday mentioned the fallen officers to include DSP Ahmad Muhammad, 

Others are; ASP Mustapha Muhammad, Inspector Amarhel Yunusa, Inspector Idris Ahmed, and Corporal Isah Muazu.

According to CSP Wakil, the attack occurred during an intelligence-led patrol aimed at curbing farmer-herder conflicts.

He said reinforcements led by DPO SP Auwalu Ilu rescued the injured and evacuated the bodies to Darazo General Hospital.

“Efforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators. The Command will ensure justice,” said Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu, who visited the scene and condoled with the families of the deceased.

“The task is tough, but we remain fierce and relentless in securing lives and property,” the statement added.

The command urged the public to cooperate as it hunts for the attackers.
