Flooding, Gully Erosion Remains Major Challenges In Bauchi – NOA

The Bauchi State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) Nasiru Mahe on Tuesday said that the State remains major challenges in flooding and gully erosion.

Mahe said this during a Nation Wide flag-off enlightenment campaign, held at the mini hold of the Federal Government Secretariat, Bauchi.
He said that the flooding and gully erosion in the state are main affected in flood prone of Alkaleri, Gamawa, Kirfi and Zaki local government areas of the State.
He further said that the State Government in partnership with the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Other agencies include of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) red cross, NGOs, National Orientation Agency NOA and Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has taken proactive measures on community sensitization, workshop, environmental management, monthly sanitation exercises and drainage.
Other measures are town hall meetings emphasizing compliance with environmental laws, national enlightenment on government policies programmes and activities.
He said that the citizens will be sensitized on government programmes under the renewed hope agenda, drug abused and youth restiveness.
