The chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in Ebonyi state, Chief Stanley Emegha has said that the governor, Francis Nwifuru has not informed the party that he is re-contesting in the forthcoming 2027 general election.

Emegha made this known while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki shortly after receiving forty million naria cheque from the youths of Ebonyi State, hails from the thirteen LGAs.

He said that the youths brought the money for the purchase of nomination form for the governor Francis Nwifuru.

According to him: “The governor has not informed the party that he is re-contesting.Of course, yes.

“The governor is waiting for the people to tell him to re-contest. He has not come to consult the party and he is also aware that the timetable is out.

“And when the timetable is out, the program of events are out.Anybody that is aspiring forany position should feel free to consult stakeholders and the party.

“And the governorhas not come. He is not taking it like there is anything.”Anybody can govern the state, but he wants to let the people know that he is not desperate.

“If he has done well, they should tell him to go ahead, which is one of the things we have seen today.

Emegha, also revealed that opposition parties are willing to endorse the governor Francis Nwifuru for the second term in office.

“The opposition parties held a meeting and I was invited by their chairman. They said if they will suggest, that I should allow them to endorse the governor for a second term.

“I know how they feel about the governor and what thegovernor is doing. He is the governor of state. I said, let us do what is in the constitution.

“If the constitution permits that all other opposition parties can endorse a particularperson, it’s allowed. They can go ahead. But, there are too many other ways they can do it

Emegha, noted further that there are other groups who came and donated money for the purchase of nomination form for the governor, but the governor ordered that the money be returned to them.

“Another group said they are buying nomination form for the governor, but the governor asked me to return back the money to them.

“I said, there is no refund after payment. You can’t do that. And this group is coming today by fire, by force, whether he likes it or not.

“And so,maybe this is what the governor is waiting for, that the people have to tell him to contest in the 2027 general election.

“And it must touch him to know that either he wants it or not, we must force him to come and continue.

“Because he started it, he must take it to a logical conclusion” he stated.
