The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified efforts to strengthen party unity and consolidate its electoral strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections, with prominent stakeholders vowing to work towards victory in all elective positions in the state.

The stakeholders, including the state APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha; Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District; and the party’s candidate for Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency, Joseph Ekuma Nkama, made their positions known during a meeting at the party secretariat in Abakaliki at the weekend.

The Nations News reports that the meeting brought together APC candidates and party leaders from across the state’s 13 local government areas to strengthen internal cohesion, address outstanding grievances and prepare for the forthcoming elections.

Speaking after the meeting, Emegha said the gathering was attended by candidates contesting senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats, as well as local government chairmen and party chairmen from the 13 local government areas.

He explained that the meeting was convened to familiarise candidates with the party’s guidelines, identify challenges facing members and resolve internal disagreements that could affect the party’s preparations for the elections.

According to him, sustained engagement with candidates and other stakeholders would provide an opportunity to address concerns arising from the party’s primaries and reconcile members who might feel dissatisfied with the outcome of the selection process.

Emegha stressed the importance of unity and discipline among party members, urging stakeholders to put their differences aside and work collectively towards achieving the party’s electoral objectives.

He maintained that regular consultations would remain a key part of the party’s strategy to strengthen its structures and ensure effective coordination among candidates, executives and grassroots mobilisers ahead of the polls.

The APC chairman also called on eligible residents of Ebonyi State to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the electoral process, describing voter registration and participation as essential components of democratic governance.

Also speaking, Senator Nwebonyi, who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Senate, expressed confidence in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections.

He attributed his optimism to what he described as the achievements of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s administration and the party’s acceptance across the state.

Nwebonyi said the party would sustain consultations with candidates and stakeholders in the coming weeks, noting that the elections were approaching and required adequate preparation at all levels.

He urged party members to remain committed to the APC’s collective objectives, stressing that cooperation among candidates and grassroots leaders would be important to the party’s campaign efforts.

Similarly, Nkama expressed optimism about the party’s prospects, pointing to what he described as the delivery of democratic dividends under APC-led administrations.

The Afikpo/Edda Federal Constituency candidate said the party’s electoral strategy included support for the presidential coalition arrangement, while retaining the APC as its preferred platform for other elective positions.

He clarified that the arrangement would not diminish the party’s commitment to contesting other offices, including senatorial, House of Representatives, governorship and State House of Assembly seats.

Nkama’s clarification highlighted the distinction between the party’s position on the presidential contest and its ambitions to secure other elective offices in Ebonyi State.
