The traditional ruler of Umunaga autonomous community, Ohaozara Local Government Area and elder brother to the minister of works, HRH Lazarus Umahi has warned the staff of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, DUFUTH, to shun protest, especially outside the varsity premises.

He issued a stern warning to the protesters never to carry out their protest outside the school gate, stressing that it will be bloody if they ignore his directives.

The traditional ruler noted that the protest will disrupt peace and order existing in the community, adding that if the protest is allowed to go outside the varsity premises, it will result to violence, killings and wanton destruction of valuable properties in the area.

Umahi made this known while responding to the protest by the staff of DUFUTH regarding the allegations of corruption leveled against the Chief Medical Director of the varsity, Uzorma Agwu.

He described as baseless and uncalled for, the way the hospital management decided to express their concerns publicly over the allegations of corruption and other corrupt practices levelled against the CMD of the hospital, Agwu.

“Let all your protests end within the hospital premises. It will be bloody if I see any staff protesting outside the hospital gate.

“Respect the institution and let your protest remain here,” stressing that the demonstration might disrupt the peace and order in the community.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that the staff and management of DUFUTH later limited their protest within the varsity premises, as directed by the traditional ruler, Umahi.
