Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦500 million and essential relief materials to support over 1,800 households affected by the recent devastating floods in Adamawa State. 

This generous gesture is a testament to her commitment to uplifting vulnerable communities and promoting humanitarian causes.

Senator Tinubu, represented by Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, made a condolence visit to Adamawa State to deliver the donation and express her heartfelt sympathies to the affected communities.

 The recent flood disaster claimed 29 lives, destroyed homes, and displaced thousands of residents, leaving many in dire need of support.

Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta received the donation on behalf of the state and expressed gratitude for the humanitarian support.

She assured that the donated items would be fairly and transparently distributed to ensure they reach those in need. 

The donation is expected to provide significant relief to affected households and support recovery efforts in the state.

The visit also marked the launch of a Women Economic Empowerment Programme, in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation. 

The initiative aims to provide small business re-capitalization grants to 500 women in Adamawa State, empowering them to rebuild their lives and livelihoods. This program underscores the importance of economic empowerment in promoting sustainable recovery and development.
