  • Convocation: Gov. Alia establishes 2  varsities to boost education in Benue

    ….Donates 500 Computers to students.

    The Benue state governor, Hyacinth Allia, has said that he will facilitate the establishment of satellite campuses of the Benue state University in Benue North  East and South Senatorial Districts of the State.

    The Nations News Nigeria reports that the establishment of such varsities to bring education closer to the people and cater for the growing demand for higher education at the grassroots.

    Governor Alia stated this during the 22nd, 23rd and 24th Combined convocation Ceremonies of the Benue State University held on Saturday in Makurdi.

    He explained that this strategic expansion will enhance access to education and strengthen the University’s role in developing the human capital base across the state”. 

    The visitor to the university further announced the donation of five hundred computers to the University computer based test center and also 100% masters Degree scholarship to all the graduands who came up with first class degrees even as he charged them to be good ambassadors of the institution and Benue state by upholding the values of integrity and hard work arguing that success was not about personal development but also positive impact on the society.

    He informed that his administration had sent an executive bill to the Benue state House of Assembly for the renaming of the University as Reverend Father Moses Adasu university as a way of honouring the founder of the institution saying he looked forward when the University would break record by placing itself at the global map of excellence.

    He commended the Management of Benue state university for effective implementation of CEFTER with a promise to ensure the institution’s Partnership with the world Bank was sustained towards handling of post harvest losses by revamping the Wannune Tomato company and Taraku mills to improve the economy of Benue but also create more jobs opportunities for the youth.

    He called on the youth especially those graduates to take advantage of the numerous agricultural policies of his administration by venturing into farming noting that the Government would provide funds funds and all farms inputs free of charge to enable them earn legitimate means of livelihood instead of continually looking for white colour jobs which he noted were not readily available for now.

    The Governor called on those who wish to further their education to remain committed to tasks of acquiring knowledge in the hope of proffering solutions to the societal problems and being a role model to their communities by using their education as a tool for positive change.

  • Bauchi, katsina govs, Abdulkadir, Radda, education minister to attend ATBU 4th convocation

    The vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University, ATBU, Prof. Muhammad Ahmad Abdul’Azeez has announced the preparedness of Bauchi and Katsina state governors; Mohammed Abdulkadir and Umaru Dikko Radda to attend the 4th convocation of the university scheduled to hold 24th February, 2024.

    Others to attend includes; the Minister of education Prof. Tahir Mamman, Minister of health Dr. Ali Pate and all the three Senators representing Bauchi state in the national assembly.

    Prof. Abdul’Azeez who made this known during in a press conference, that took place at the Senate chamber in Gubi, the main campus of the university, said that the varsity will graduate a total of 19,252 students, including the first set of 25 medical doctors on the same day.

    The Vice chancellor, Abdul’Azeez noted further that the graduation will commence during the combined convocation ceremony of its 4th set.

    He emphasized that the university will also graduate 404 diploma students, undergraduates 15,460, Post graduate Diploma 1,653, Masters 1,559 and 176 PHDs students, all a total of

    19, 252 students.

    The Nations News Nigeria reports that the classes of degrees obtained by the combined graduands includes, 337 1st class students, 5489 2nd class upper,  7241 2nd class lower, 1867 3rd class and 526 pass students respectively.

    According to him:”The success of this exercise will be determined by the co-operation from all stake holders in the educational sector. The media is one of them. That is why we invited you today to brief you on the activities lined up for the ceremony and to inform Nigerians about it as well as urge you to report these activities for the benefit of humanity”

    He added that the university will be commissioning 19 different projects completed in the last four years. 

    “These projects are spread in both Gubi and Yelwa campuses. We are inviting a number of dignitaries to commission these projects” he stated.
