‘Support Tinubu to secure full implementation of students loan in Nigeria- ASONIS urges leaders

The apex umbrella body of students union in the seventeen states of southern Nigeria, the Association of Southern Nigerian Students, ASONIS, has called on the leaders of the region to support president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to enhance full implementation of the proposed students loan in the country.

The newly elected executives of the association made this known through in a statement signed by the president-elect and secretary general, Taiwo Olayinka Temitope, Megbowon Olusola and Origbo Gilbert who is public relations officer, PRO, and issued to newsmen on Monday.

The newly elected leadership commended southern leaders for their blueprints in promotion of education in their regions and admonished them to jettison ethnocentrism for the interest of the people.

The statement reads in part: “To all the State Governors across the seventeen States in the Southern part of Nigeria, we want to reiterate that Association Of Southern Nigerian Students belongs to you all. 

“The newly-elected national executive appreciates you all Your Excellencies for building the Southern Nigerian blueprints as laid by the liberation nationalists at Regional Government period and after Independent. 

“As some of you had been trained right from the days of yore and you have learnt, read and studied what the Southern Nigeria stands for and we see you all pursuing the agenda laid in the blueprints as portrayed by our fathers who brought western education to the country through the South. 

“We appreciate your efforts to ensure that the foundation laid is built upon. We therefore want to re-emphasize that the new excos will partner with all State Governors in Southern Nigeria to uphold the tenets of the South and also of the Association Of Southern Nigerian Students.

” We call on all State Governors to be prepared to welcome, embrace and support the objectives as planned as we together take the region to the land of Canaan – the promised land for a better Nigeria, without fear or favour. 

“We want all State Governors to jettison any form of ethnocentrism as we your children work with you all to achieve your objectives across the seventeen states in the South

“However, the Renewed Hope master planner is hereby given a well honoured reference in this press release. We reverence and give dignity to him for the Hope he has brought to Nigerians home and in diaspora. 

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who as the ancient prophets and world builders has taken the mantle to bring to table the official blueprint Nigeria had kept since the days of Colonialism and Imperialism. 

“We want to appreciate you sir for passing the Student loan bill and giving it maximum awareness and implementation. We know that the number of dropout Students will be reduced drastically through this student loan bill.

” We promise to set the pace and establish a taskforce that will collaborate with other student associations to monitor the full implementation of this loan Structure so that some carnivores won’t prey on the policy and eat fat on it” the group stated
