Sit -at-home: Traders shun Gov. Soludo’s threat to open markets in Anambra

The threat by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State that traders should open their shops on Mondays ((sit-at-home), fell on deaf ears  this Monday as most markets were under lock and key.

The President General of the Anambra State Markets  Amalgamated Traders’ Association, ASMATA, Humphrey Anuna, who took the pains to visit some of the markets only met the executives of the markets.

Not believing what he saw,, that the traders did not come to open their shops, and however, expressed surprise that despite the assurance from the governor that their safety is assured, the traders still shun the governor’s threat that those who shut their shops will be sanctioned 

He reminded the traders that the state will continue to lose if they refuse to open their shops adding that the security in the state has been beefed up to protect them and their wares.

Major roads, banks, offices, schools, local government headquarters and most markets were shut and only tricycles were seen plying the roads.

A trader who pleaded anonymity told The Nations News Nigeria reporter that the governor has his security details to ward off any attack unlike the traders who have nothing to use on self defense.

As at the time of filing this report people were seen in groups discussing an alleged order from Simon Ekpa of the government in exile  that there should be a two day sit-at-home.

They said they were not interested in that order but that they stayed at home because it has become part of them adding that Simon is only being selfish and trying to enrich himself..
