Senate President, Akpabio, APC N’vice President, Giodam, others vow to reclaim Edo for APC

The National Vice Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) South South, chief Victor Giodam has said that the party will win the forthcoming election in Edo State

The APC Chieftain, Giadam stated this during the South South APC stakeholders meeting on Sunday in Calabar.

He maintained that the party “must reclaim” Edo State to increase APC control States in the South South region.

The South South Chairman bemoaned the fact that the party was in deficit in the region as it currently governs only one state in the region.

Giadam stressed that the stakeholders meeting in Calabar is to deepen consultations and deliberations on how to unite its members in the region.

He said that the party at the zonal level is among others charged with the responsibility of initiating and deepening consultation amongst party members.

He said further that the meeting is “To promote party unity, deepen leadership consensus, identify current and emerging challenges, proffer solutions and mainstream development issues of the South-South zone into the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Maintaining that inspite of this impactful projects such as the Lagos- Calabar coastal road, the building of the Onne axis of the East-West road among others; our Party suffers a political deficit in respect of its control of only one state in the region.

“This is a situation that calls for consistent consultation as we have today; and let me assure our Party members and Distinguished Leaders of the South-South zone that this consultations will remain until we win over the other states in the,” he stated.

In his reaction, Senate President, Chief Godswill Akpabio assured party members that the “days of loneliness” Governor of Cross River, Sen. Bassey Otu will soon be over as the party is ready to get more states in the region

In his words, “the zone can’t wait to add a brother to Cross River governor. But, we must all be committed to the ideals and goals of the party. We don’t need to be friends to work together,” he maintained. While also paying tribute to the former Senate president, late Joseph Wayas

On his part, Gov. Bassey Otu who said Edo cannot escape the onslaught of the winning strategy of the APC, noted that the President has proven to be a friend of the region

He promised his readiness as the leader of the party in the South South rigion to ensure that the party emerges victorious on the coming election in Edo State
