Coalition of 37 million Persons with disabilities in Nigeria have appealed to politicians, philanthropists, and wealthy individuals to extend kindness and support to vulnerable members of society, including orphans and those struggling with poverty.
The disabled Leader and APC National Youth Ambassador Northeast Zone, Comrade Abdullahi Isma’il Ibrahim, made the passionate appeal in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna, while citing the dire need for assistance among Nigerians in the season of economic turmoil.
Abdullahi, who shared a personal encounter with a hungry young disabled man and his family, highlighted that the disability community and other average Nigerians face many struggles daily and as such something unique and urgent must be done to alleviate their plights.
He however applauded the CEO of QAT Foundation, Halimat Adenike Tejuosho and the wife of the president Remi Bola Ahmed Tinubu for their selfless work and generosity towards Vulnerable Members and Orphans in Nigeria.
The coalition leader also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for the initiatives aimed at alleviating poverty and inequality.
He emphasized the need for a dedicated Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, recommending Halimat Adenike Tejuosho for the role due to her proven track records in Humanitarian services.
Ibrahim said, “we are appealing to the need to tackle the economic situation confronting our members and other vulnerable members of the human society as a result of these economic challenges ravaging the country.
“We are aware that president Bola Ahmed Tinubu through his Renewed Hope Agenda is doing everything humanly possible to find a lasting solution to this menace, meanwhile we want to urge that he prioritize competence by appointing individuals with proven track records.
“Without doubt, individuals who prioritizes the welfare of the citizenry like the CEO of QAT Foundation Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho Adenike has contributed her quota to national development overtime and as such we believe that if she’s given the opportunity to serve as humanitarian affairs and poverty Alleviation Minister, she will be able to solve Nigeria’s challenges grappling with poverty, inequality, and disability.
“Aside endorsing Hajiya Halimat Tejuosho, the Persons with Disabilities community urges leaders and individuals to prioritize kindness, empathy, and inclusive leadership to address these issues and create a better future for all Nigerians.” he said.
