Police foil kidnap attempt, rescue female victim in Ebonyi

Ebonyi State Police command on Monday said it has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued the victim, Nneka Onyibe unhurt at Tina Nweze Street in Mile 50, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
The command in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki by the police public relations officer, DSP, JOSHUA UKANDU said Operatives from the command were dispatched to pursue the kidnappers.
The statement reads in part: “The command received information regarding a kidnapping incident near Mile 50 in Abakaliki. Operatives from the command were dispatched to pursue the kidnappers.
“They tracked an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla with reg no: SKA 828 AA, which was used by the kidnappers, to Tina Nweze Street in Mile 50, Abakaliki.

“Under pressure from the operatives, the kidnappers abandoned the victim, the Toyota Corolla, and a Toyota Sienna vehicle belonging to the victim.
“The operatives successfully recovered these vehicles, which are now at the command headquarters for identification by their owners.
The commissioner of police, CP, Adaku Uche-Anya, however, reiterated the command’s commitment to the police mandate of protecting lives and property.
She also urged the residents of Ebonyi State to always volunteer information to the command, to enable it tackle crimes and criminality in the state.
