Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command at the weekend said it has arrested three suspects for vandalism.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that the operatives equally recovered a firearm and ammunition in a different operation.
The Police Public Relations Office, Enugu Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen on sunday
Ndukwe said that: “acting on a tip-off, the Operatives serving in Central Police Station (CPS) of the Command, arrested three male suspects, comprising one Odeh Chijioke aged 26, Okwudili Onwe, aged 38, both of Ishielu L.G.A. of Ebonyi State, and Igwe Chidera aged 20, of Nkerefi in Nkanu East L.G.A.
“Their arrest led to the recovery of yet-to-be quantified pieces of iron rails vandalized at the pedestrian crossing bridge at Holy Ghost/Ogbete Market, Enugu state.
In a different operation, “Police Operatives serving in Awkunanaw Division of the Command, swiftly responded to a distress call, alleging the operation of armed robbers in a compound at Awkunanaw, Enugu state.
“The quick response led to the averting of the criminal act and the recovery of a locally fabricated double-barreled gun loaded with two (2) live cartridges, which the suspects abandoned and escaped upon sighting the Operatives.
He stated further that the arrested suspects will be arraigned and prosecuted once the investigation is concluded, while a discreet investigation is underway to apprehend the armed robbery suspects on the run.
The Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has appreciated the citizens whose information on the criminal activities made the operational successes possible.
He, however, tasked the citizenry to continue to support the police by promptly reporting suspected criminals and their activities to the nearest Police Station.
