Police apprehend 4 armed robber suspects, recover arms, 34 handsets in Benue

The Benue Police Command, said it has apprehended four suspected armed robbers in separate operations, who have been terrorising parts of the State and recovered 34 handsets,three HP laptops, two MP3 players and rifts.
The command police public relations officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi, Sunday.

She stated that three suspects were arrested on August 31st at Orokam Junction along Obollo Afor Road.
The PPRO who listed the suspected armed robbers to include; Mujahid Mohammed, 21 years; Yahaya Abdullahi, 21 years; and Kalipha Mohammad, 28 years,.
The Nations News reports that the suspects were all residents of Mararaba and Nyanya, Abuja,.
Udeme, said that they were arrested during a stop-and-search operation in Ogbadibo local government area of the State.
According to her, on 31st August 2025 at about 1705 hrs, while operatives of the Orokam Police Division were on stop-and-search duty at Orokam Junction by Obollo Afor Road, they intercepted and arrested three suspects.
“The suspects confessed to belonging to a gang of armed robbers who were terrorising the Orokam community in Benue and other communities in Enugu State.
“They also confessed to having robbed six flats at the Umukasi Area and ten flats at the St Theresa Area of Nsukka in Enugu State.
“They further averred that their ringleader, one Abba Mohammed, age 27, who is at large, escaped with their weapons in the course of their arrest,” she added.
The police spokesperson stated that the Benue police command was working with those of Enugu and Gombe to apprehend the suspect at large, while the command was carrying out further investigation to identify the owners of the recovered items.
The PPRO maintained that on 12th September 2025, at about 2300hrs, while operatives of Operation Zenda Joint Task Force were on surveillance patrol within Gboko Local Government Area,.
“Credible information was received that a gang of armed robbers were in a hideout at Gboko East, planning to attack and rob in some designated areas.
“The team swiftly stormed the hideout and arrested one suspect, Liambe Orpine ‘m’ 35 years, of Anvambe, Buruku LGA, while other members of the gang fled upon sighting the police
“Exhibits recovered from the hideout include; One (1) “AK-47 Rifle, One (1) Jack Knife and Three (3) locally fabricated Dane Guns”.
DSP Edet said the suspect is presently in custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing gang members, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, CP Innocent Ifeanyi Emenari, commended the gallantry of Operation Zenda JTF operatives and reassured the good people of Benue State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements.
Edet quoted the Benue Commissioner of Police (CP) Emenari Ifeanyi as commending the swift action of the patrol team and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to rid the state of criminal elements.
“The CP further advised the public to continue to support the police with timely information to ensure a safe society”.
