Niger Sports Commission Chairman splash 500k on 10yrs Scramble gold Medalist, three others

The newly appointed Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, Hon Danjuma Abdul Masu has rewarded a ten years old Saviour Patrick Onaze and three others with cash award of five Hundred thousand Naira for wining gold medals at the just concluded National Youth games at Asaba.
In a brief ceremony at the Commission’s headquarters along Bosso road on Thursday, the Ten years old Benue State parented JSS2 Student of Federal Government Special Academy, Suleja was the centre of attraction.

Hon Masu who was appointed Chairman of the State Sports Commission was his own personal way of motivating the athletes inorder to spur them to outstanding performance at the games.
” Today we are here to make this token presentation to the young athletes to the parents because school is about to resume, our goal is for them to combine education and Sports
” The Governor has graciously accepted to host them, but on my own I did promise each gold medalist, five hundred thousand Naira, Silver, two hundred thousand Naira, and Bronze medal winners the sum of one hundred thousand Naira “
He said his stand out moment at the game was the gold medal won by ten years old Saviour Onaze as the State ended up winning a total of 12 medals comprising of four gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
The Chairman disclosed that, Governor Mohammed Umar Bago is planing to turn the Bahago Sports complex into a sports Academy for the production of world class sports talents .
Niger State won gold medal in Scramble, weightlifting, kickboxing and Handball, in the team events they also clinched four Silver in Talkwando, Tennis, and three bronze medals.
The state finished 13th overall in the medals table which was the best performance since their participation in the National Youth games.
