Niger Police Command arrest 2 transformer vandals, motorcycle snatchers

The Niger state Police command has arrested two man syndicate specializing in vandalizing public power supply transformers within Minna metropolis.
The Command public Relations officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun in a Crime bulletin made available to newsmen disclosed that the two suspected electric transformer vandals; Idris Garba 21yrs and Saifullahi Alkasim 28yrs both of Alagbado, Minna were arrested.
He said the suspects were arrested by Police operatives of ‘B’ Div Minna at a transformer spot within the area during an attempt to vandalize the cables, while two others escaped.
The suspects arrested have been transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution.
Similarly, two other suspects who are suspected to have snatched a motorcycle were also nabbed by the crack team of the state police command.
“On 28/8/2025 at about 10am, based on intelligence received that two suspects; Ilyasu Hassan and Ibrahim Mohammed were sighted during an attempt to sell a suspected stolen Bajaj motorcycle within Suleja,
” Police operatives attached to ‘B’ Div Suleja moved to the scene, arrested the suspects and recovered the stolen motorcycle”.
The command Spokesman said, during interrogation, the suspects confessed that the motorcycle was stolen from Jere along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway. Suspects were arraigned in court for prosecution.
Meanwhile, Police has busted a criminal hide out in a remote village in Paikoro LGA of Niger State.
“Based on credible information on criminalities around Daza, Police operatives of Tactical Support Team (TST) stormed an isolated camp at Daza, via Kafin-Koro Paikoro LGA.
“Immediately the Police teams were sighted around the camp, two suspected hoodlums hiding within the camp took to their heels and escaped.”
However, he said a search was carried out in the camp and one locally fabricated revolver gun was recovered. Surveillance and monitoring continues on the camp to arrest the fleeing hoodlums terrorising the area.
