Niger: Gov Bago appoints Abdul Masu Pioneer Chairman of Sports commission

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago has signed the bill establishing the Niger State Sports  commission into law and appointed Danjuma Abdul Masu as the Pioneer Chairman of the commission. 

In a statement issued by the Secretary to Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman on Wednesday said the appointment is with immediate effect and it is aimed at revitalizing the sector. 

The statement further disclosed that the strategic appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to revitalizing Sports infrastructure, fostering talent development and positioning Niger State as a hub for athletic excellence in the country.  

He noted  that the Governor approved the appointment  of Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu because it aligns with the  present administration’s vision to harness the immense Sports potential of Niger State and position the State as a leading hub for Sports excellence in Nigeria.

The statement expressed confidence that the pioneer  Chairman possesses the requisite experience, passion, and leadership qualities to transform the Sports landscape of Niger State.

Governor  Bago reiterated that Sports remain a critical pillar of his administration’s strategy to reduce unemployment, promote social cohesion, and elevate Niger State’s profile on the national Sports stage, said the statement.

“The new Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission represents another milestone in Governor Bago’s transformation agenda for the State

“This administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for Sports development across the State”, the statement stressed

The Governor expressed optimism that under the new leadership, Niger State will reclaim its position as a leading Sports State in Nigeria and contribute significantly to the country’s sporting achievements at national and international levels.

“The appointment of Masu signals a new era for Sports in Niger State, reflecting Governor Bago’s unwavering dedication to transformative governance. 

The administration calls on citizens, stakeholders, and development partners to rally behind Masu as he embarks on this critical assignment”, the statement stated.
