Mysterious fire guts Mgbuka Obosi Mechanic village, destroys #300m worth of goods

Mysterious early morning inferno weekend gutted the Mgbuka Obosi Mechanic village in Idemili North Local Government area, Anambra state, destroying wares estimated at about #300 million.
Sympathizing with the traders, the President General, Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders’ Association, ASMATA, Humphrey Anuna-, urged them to take heart as God has heard their cries and will answer in no distant time since most of the victims are poor traders.
He however, stated that the inferno may be as a result of illegal electrical connections in the market and urged them to desist from such to avoid more damages.

The president general, who was flanked by the Ugwuagba Obosi market chairman, Samuel Ifurunwa, said he would inform the state government of the fire outbreak with a view to knowing how to assist them to continue in their business.
According to some of the victims, the fire started at about 2am on Saturday and two vehicles were burnt while uncountable number of Lister generating sets, 30 wheel barrows, and and car engines were destroyed.
The vice chairman of the mechanic village, Uchechukwu Ochuba said, “Fire service men came early and did their best. The fire started about 2am and they came about 3am.i don’t know cause of the inferno but there are lots of inflammable materials in the market. Government should help us,” he. Pleaded
Also, another victim, Miracle Igwe stated that, “lots of engines were lost, we need help from government to continue “.

Jude Okeke, sub chairman, said he was called around 2am and that the market was on fire when he came addi g, “. I lost millions of naira worth of wares.
“We lost about #300 million, some lost #20million, #10million #5million worth of goods, you can see that people are crying ,” he stated.
