The Adamawa State Muslim Council has been urged to enhance unity and maintain peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims in Nigeria.
The Nations News reports that the Muslim council recently launched it’s annual Islamic Calendar, Prayer Timetable, and General Assembly Meeting in Adamawa state.
The event was attended by top government officials and emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence among Muslims and non-Muslims in the state.
The Commissioner for Local Government Affairs Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji, urged Muslims to uphold Islamic principles and values, emphasizing the importance of unity and reflection among the Muslim Ummah
Also, the commissioner for Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Reconciliation, Bello Hamman Diram, represented Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and reiterated the administration’s commitment to peaceful coexistence among diverse religious communities in Adamawa State.
The Chairman of the Muslim Council, Alhaji Gambo Jika, highlighted the importance of the annual program in reviewing Islam’s progress in the state and strategizing ways to strengthen faith and community development.
The event concluded with a call to Muslims to promote mutual understanding and maintain harmonious relationships with their non-Muslim counterparts in the interest of Adamawa’s development.
The council’s efforts aim to foster a sense of unity and cooperation among Muslims and non-Muslims in the state.
The Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar used to determine Islamic events and festivals. It consists of 12 months, with key dates including Muharram, Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha.
It was gathered that the calendar plays an essential role in the Islamic faith, guiding Muslims in their daily lives and worship.
