Ebonyi State commissioner on aviation and transport technology, Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu on Thursday said that the governor Francis Nwifuru’s prudence and transparent utilization of funds to execute quality projects will earn him second term in office.
She applauded governor Francis Nwifuru for the upward review of the contract sum of the Chuba Okadigbo airport runway rehabilitation to #17.3billion.
Obichukwu who spoke to newsmen, shortly after the inspection of the Chuba Okadigbo airport runway by governor Francis Nwifuru to mark his one year anniversary, said that the upward review of the contract sum of the runway, was as a result of inflation and cost of construction materials in the country.
According to her: “The governor, Francis Nwifuru is a man that has a taste and he goes for quality in his work. And he doesn’t compromise quality in his work. We thank God that the governor is committed in ensuring that the Chuba Okadigbo international airport is put in a right frame.
“His determination to get the airport working is already assured because the contractors that bided and the one that won the bid, have really done very well, on the base and width that they indulged in the rehabilitation and asphalting of the runway.
The Aviation commissioner, Obichukwu further noted that the governor’s exceptional quality in giving Ebonyians good governance and quality leadership can never be over emphasized.
“We thank the governor who has given us the opportunity to serve in his administration in this form, he has really encouraged us not to do anything that is not of great benefit to the state. He wants us to do something that will last, the sustainability of every project is his own mindset.
“He wants every project to last, even after his own administration. This wonderful projects will earn second term in office and it’s not negotiable.
“The issue of variation and review of the project came up as a result of the inflation and cost of things in the country. The foreign exchange and the cost of construction materials skyrocketed to 80 percent.
“Why we got so far, was because of the governor’s prudence in the utilization of funds. The variation we did was so transparent, and prudent to enable the contractor to complete the project” she stated.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that governor Francis Nwifuru, equally inspected various projects; the airport runway, pipe production company, Ogbaga-nwofe road, Izzo and Amaeze housing estates and others to mark his one year anniversary.
