LP Chieftain, Oku, 1000 other supporters dump party for APC in Ebonyi

A Prominent chieftain of the labour party, LP, in Ebonyi state, Mr. Obinna Oku and one thousand other supporters at the weekend defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Oku who dumped Labour Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, alongside his supporters numbering over One thousand, said he was motivated by the good governance of the state governor, Francis Nwifuru.

He however, said that the purpose of dumping his former party to APC, is to partner the governor, Francis Nwifuru, to develop the state.

The defection which took place at the state secretariat of APC, located along Onwe road Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, was attended by prominent stakeholders.

He commended the governor, Nwifuru for the good governance and peaceful co-existence of Ebonyi citizens, stressing that the state government led by Francis Nwifuru has demonstrated leadership qualities in the times of security of lives and properties.

According to him: “If you compare the previous regime and now you know that peace has returned in Ebonyi because nobody will say somebody beat me, hit me here and there and honestly we have been forward to hear this kind of statement from people,” he said

He called on other meaningful Ebonyians both home and in the diaspora to align themselves with the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru to sustain the peace initiative and people’s charter of needs.

Responding, the State APC chairman, Stanley Emegha assured the defectors of an open door policy, and added that his party doesn’t segregate new members.

He assured the labour Party, LP, defectors of equal play ground to operate in his party, All Progressive Congress.

Emegha further stated that his party, APC has come to stay in Ebonyi, adding that the entire Ebonyi will soon join APC, because the most important thing is to develop the state.

He charged them to be obedient and work by party rules and regulations, to make sure that the people’s charter of needs agenda is of the governor, is protected.

“If you are coming into a part where I am in charge the first thing you will know is you must be decent and don’t come here and mess us up.

” You must try our parts in making sure that the people’s needs are well attended to. You will play a role because if you are there and you will not advise our Governor the way to go, you don’t to align with our plan” he stressed.
