LG polls: ‘We have only 1 party, No more LP, PDP in Ebonyi- commissioner, Okorie

Ebonyi state commissioner for Inter Party Affairs, Philip Ogbonna Okorie has said that there is no more labour party LP, Peoples Democratic Party PDP, and other political parties in the state.

He said that, what is available now in Ebonyi state is one party, adding that time has gone when those in opposition parties castigate government t will.

Okorie who made this known while interacting with journalists in Abakaliki, assured that the ministry will collaborate with the EBSIEC to ensure that the forthcoming local government election in the state is free, fair and credible.

“we know that there’s necessity for us to ensure a peaceful coexistence of the political parties and also, their internal party mechanism, the democratic process to raise whosoever that supposed to hold the flag of the party.

“We make sure different parties are working in line with the directives given to them, so as to ensure peace in the state.

“The parties had their peaceful primaries, and candidates were produced under by conception, direct or indirect primary. Since the primaries of the political parties in the state, there was no record of violence, of any form.

“It’s been peaceful all the way and right now, I know they bought their forms, from EBSIEC, and well prepared for the forthcoming Local Government election.

“We are already in touch with relevant Agencies, EBSIEC, the law enforcement agencies that’s the security apparatus, we have in the state to ensure a very peaceful and rancour free during and after election.

He however, called on candidates who may win in the forthcoming local government election, to carry along those we may lose in the polls.

“My advice for political parties and candidates going in for the election, is it’s only a foolish man will go to the market and tend to buy everything. If try today and it couldn’t favour you, you have to wait. He who fought and ran away, will fight again. In any position, it’s only one person that will emerge.”

“If you eventually lose, partner with the winner. And if you win, carry the other one along because it is not a winner takes it all. Like in Ebonyi State, we have one party, that’s Ebonyi party, we don’t have APC any longer, we don’t have PDP any more, we don’t have Labour Party any more, and we don’t have any of the other parties any longer.

“They are just here in nomenclature. This is because His Excellency is doing in Ebonyi State everybody here is member of Ebonyi party. The avalanche of defection in the state is as a result of what God has been using Governor Francis Nwifuru to do in our dear state. There’s no more political motivated killings, political motivated kidnapping, political motivated harassment in one way or the other.

“There’s no more provocative words from other political parties now. The Governor Francis Nwifuru has shown everyone how to lead by example. So, anyone who loses, has not lost anything. It’s one way all of us. If you loose embrace the man you lost to, if you win carry everyone along” he stated.
