LG Polls: CROSIEC vows to give political parties equal participation in C’River

The Cross River State independent electoral Commission(CROSIEC) has said that the state electoral body will provide a level playing ground for all the political parties in the forthcoming local government elections in the State.
The Chairman of the commission, Ekong Edet Boco stated this in his office in Calabar when the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Cross River State council paid him a courtesy visit.
He maintained that the local government polls in the State will be held before December this year once the amended law gets the governor’s ascent any time.
He called on everybody to remain calm that very soon he will call journalists and stakeholders to read out the time table for the elections
” In this State, we are looking at the law that has just been amended, once it gets the Governor’s ascent, we’ll certainly invite your office as well as political parties and address everybody accordingly”.
” The elections to me will certainly be in this year, we can’t allow December this year to pass”, he maintained.
He called for support from media whom he described as critical partners, stressing that people must know about what the commission is doing and maintain that they will be very transparent in the conduct of the forthcoming local government elections.
In her response, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Cross River State council, Comrade
Archibong Bassey assured the CROSIEC boss of the readiness and support of the union during the period of the elections
She urged the him to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the conduct of the forthcoming local government elections in the State
Bassey said as critical partners in the business of election, “we have a role to play in making sure you deliver on your mandate”, she stated.
