LG boss, Ajah vows to prosecute killers of Monarch, Ubani in Ebonyi

The chairman of Ivo Local government Area of Ebonyi state, Mr. Ajah Emmanuel on Tuesday threatened to ensure the prosecution of the killers of Monarch, Umazi Ubani of Umuihe community in Akaeze, Ivo LGA

The Nations News Nigeria gathered that the victim, Umazi Ubani was murdered last Friday when the hoodlums invaded the community.

Ajah, who spoke with newsmen on Tuesday, said that the perpetrators of the ugly incident won’t go unpunished, nothing that the security agencies are on top of the situation to unravel this hoodlums.

He, however, called the residents of Ivo local government area to go about their normal business, adding that he will not fold his hands or leave any stone unturned to ensure that whoever is involved in the killings of the innocent monarch, is prosecuted.

The Council boss, Ajah narrated that he was at Abakaliki when he held the news of the death of the late monarch and of course, he could not hold himself because they were in a meeting with the Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters.

He described the killing as painful, stressing that the victim, Ubani is the only traditional ruler who can say the truth at any given time.

He said he didn’t know what happened but what he knows is that there was a communal land dispute between two communities wherein the traditional ruler stood by him with other coordinators to ensure that peace returned and the land was divided.

According to him: “I believe I have taken steps and I don’t need to tell journalists the steps I have taken but very soon I will call you people to tell you what I have achieved.

“I was at Abakaliki when I held the news around 10 pm the night and of course, I could not hold myself because we were in a meeting with the Commissioner for chieftaincy matters and what pained me was that the traditional ruler was the only man who could say the truth at any given time.

“I don’t know what happened to him but what I know is that there was a communal land dispute between the community and the traditional ruler stood by me with other coordinators and divided the land and everybody was happy.

“The land dispute has been like that over the years before I came on board but immediately I got the information, I intervened on the matter and divided the land and both parties were happy and the community was happy as well and didn’t know why someone will wake one day and decided to kill an innocent man and innocent king.

“Security agencies are on it seriously and since I came on board, I have averted insecurity in Ivo local government before now, we used to have security threats like Palani, hoodlums attacks, and the Eastern security network but all these things are gone.

“This incident which occurred personally I would not fold my hands or leave any stone unturned and whether everybody likes it or not, I must prosecute Killers of this innocent king no matter where they run to I say must.

“I believe I have taken steps and I don’t need to tell you steps I have taken but very soon I will call you people to tell you what we have achieved,” he said
