Kogi lawmaker, lawal offers scholarship to 58 students

The Kogi State House of Assembly member, Akus Lawal representing Ankpa I constituency has offered scholarships to fifty eight students, as a way to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education in the area.

The Lawmaker, lawal who made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in lokoja, stated that he was poised to offer the scholarship to the aforementioned students, to promote lifelong learning opportunities for his people in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal, (SDG).

He noted that 34 Students who are beneficiaries of this education scholarship scheme are from Kogi State College of Education, and 24 Students are Gloryland Polytechnic, Ankpa.

The Lawmaker, who described education as the most reliable path to prosperity, had earlier paid N1,000,000 instalment to the intended beneficiaries making it N2,000,000 in total.

“I’m very pleased to announce the second instalment of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira) only for the complete tuition payment of students in Ankpa 1 State Constituency that are beneficiaries of our scholarship scheme.

“My dear brother and friend, I will present a bank draft of N500,000 each to Kogi State College of Education and Gloryland Polytechnic. We had earlier paid N1,000,000 (One Million Naira) only as the first instalment, bringing the total amount paid so far to N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira) only”.

He disclosed that, “We are committed to encouraging excellence among the student population in Ankpa I State Constituency. Education is key to the development of every society.

“One of my campaign promises is to boost education, make our people develop more interest in pursuing excellence.

“I made several promises to the people in the course of my campaign and I have continued to fulfil that in accordance with the mandate given to me by my People” he stated.
