June 12: Bogoro LG boss tasks Nigerian leaders on good governance, justice

The Chairman of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Surveyor Yakubu Lawi Sumi on Thursday said Democracy is not merely a system of governance, but a shared commitment to justice, equity, freedom, and progress.
Sumi made this known while delivering his Democracy Day speech at the local government conference hall.
He noted further that in democracy, every voice matters, and there should be collective leadership that is rooted in transparency, and service that can transform communities.
“As today we join millions of Nigerians across the nation to celebrate the triumph of the people’s will, the power of participation, and the enduring strength of our democratic ideals.
“This day reminds us of the journey we have travelled as a people through trials, triumphs, and transformation toward building a government that reflects the voice, vision, and values of the people”

The council boss said that his local government remains deeply committed to a people centered leadership that upholds the dignity of every citizen, promotes inclusive development, and protects the rights and well-being of the people.
He expressed his appreciation to the State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir for giving democracy all the enabling space to thrive in Bauchi State marking his six years on the throne as the best performing Governor in the history of the state.
According to the Chairman, the human and infrastructural development of Governor Bala strides, cut across all parts of Bauchi state and in all spheres have positively changed the landscape of Bauchi state.
