Gov Otu’s wife empowers Over 2,000 Cross Riverians

The wife of Cross River State Governor, Bishop (Mrs) Eyoanwan Bassey Otu has raised over 2,000 indigenes of Odukpani local Government of Cross River State from poverty to a better life.The beneficiaries who are basically from Omo and Ebrutu political blocks, comprises of six wards of the local government

The First Lady who is the Founder, Humanity Without Borders Empowerment Initiative, empowered the residents of the Local Government Area with Engine boats, sewing machines, hair dressing salon kits, motorcycles, solar lights, mini buses, pregnant women kits, barbing salon kits, POS machines and Cash grants.

The event which took place at Eki ward of Odukpani Local Government was aimed at empowering the locals to start or scale their various businesses.

In her remarks, Mrs Otu highlighted the importance of empowerment, stating that she expects the beneficiaries to use the items given to them judiciously.

“I want to appeal to you, to use the items judiciously. You know I don’t have a budget but from whatever I receive from well meaning individuals, I try to give back to humanity”. “Today, we are giving out ten several items to uplift your standard of living”.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported this empowerment in cash and kind, the likes of Engr. Ben Akak, the National Deputy Treasurer of the biggest party in Africa, the APC, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong., Prince Edwin Okon, Chairman Cross River State Internal Revenue Service, and all others who I can’t mention because of time, the Lord bless you all.”

In his remarks, the Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, lauded the First Lady for her magnanimity, urging other well meaning cross riverians to do well to emulate the first lady 

According to him, “The last time we saw this sort of empowerment was when  the Governor, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, was in the Senate. Her Excellency is definitely learning from the source, and we are learning from her, we will do our best to adopt it for our people.” He stated.
