Gov. Fintiri replies Atiku’s claims of neglect in tackling flood disaster in Adamawa

Adamawa state government on Monday tackled the  former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, over criticism in handling of the recent flooding  disaster in the state. 

The government asserted that it has been proactive in addressing the issue, contrary to claims of neglect by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The government highlighted its investments in storm drains and waterways, demonstrating its awareness of the state’s propensity for flooding.

The government also pointed to its swift responses to the Borno State flooding disaster, where it provided cash and logistical support.

In a statement signed by the chief press secretary to Governor Humwashu wonosikou state that ,The government clarifies that the abandoned Chochi project, cited by some as a factor in the flooding, was not initiated or abandoned by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration.

“When the Sunday morning flood struck Adamawa, the Deputy Governor, Kaletapwa Farauta, promptly mobilized government agencies, including the military and marine police, to the scene. 

“Under her leadership, the State Emergency Management Agency provided urgent relief to affected citizens.

The government disputed claim’s that it was silent while others acted, stating that it spearheaded the responses efforts.

” The engine boats used in the rescue operations are owned by the state government.

The government appeals to leaders to refrain from misinformation and allow facts to guide public discourse. The people of Adamawa deserve accurate information and support during this challenging time.

By setting the record straight, the government aims to focus on supporting its citizens through the flood’s aftermath. The government remains committed to providing relief and assistance to those affected.
