GBV: foundation presents over 70 blood donors to ATBU-TH in Bauchi

The Child is Gold Foundation on Wednesday presented over seventy (70) blood donors to the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH) for test, screening and keeping the blood for those in need.
Mrs. Elizabeth George who is the executive director of the foundation said that they presented the donors to the hospital for free of charge.
She said that “We discovered that the Survival of sexual and gender violence, when People are in hospital for an emergency, sometimes you discover that there’s no blood on the ground but with this patients will be getting easy.
She further said that the donated blood is not for salling but to those who are in an emergency so that the doctors should fix them the blood in order to save their lives.
Adding that at times when the blood is ready and available in the hospital, the patient will only pay for blood screening and preservation.
While, Khalil Abdullahi who is the legal officer of the hospital expressed his appreciation to the foundation that volunteers to bring blood donors for free of charge to the hospital.
He said that if people continue doing good things like what the child gold foundation did, some patients’ lives will be saved.
Adding that the blood will definitely help those in need, you can see someone bring his or her relatives to the hospital but after being asked to bring blood, he or she will run and leave the patient for lack of money, but with this kind of gesture people will be getting it very easily.
He further said that in the Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH) they don’t sell blood unless if the blood is only removed and kept without screening, then they will ask the patient to only pay money for screening and preservation.
Abdullahi said that when the blood is donated by any group, they keep the blood to those affected with road accidents and they don’t have relatives in the state, then the hospital will use the blood on them for free in order to save their lives.
The hospital legal officer, Barrister Khalil Abdullahi called another foundation in the state to learn the good work from the child is the gold foundation and be supporting those patients in need of blood for their survival.
