Farmers/herders clashes: Why Tinubu wants govs to give land to herders in Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained why it’s necessary for the governors to give land to herders as a way to combat the rising cases of farmers/ herders clashes in Nigeria.
Tinubu made this known during the flag-off of the Food Security and Agricultural Mechanization Program that took place in Niger State.
He noted that the only effective solution to the farmers/herders’ clashes in the country could be achieved within two or three weeks if governors are able to offer land for a comprehensive plan he intends to unveil.
According to him:“I know what it means as an economic sabotage for roaming cows to eat up the crops of our farmers. I know what it means, I know it could be painful. When we re-orient the herders and make provision for cattle rearing, the problems will be solve”.
He charged governors “to provide the land, I as the president, I am committed to giving you in two, three weeks’ time a comprehensive programme that will solve this problem”. He stressed
