Enugu govt. Kick-starts demolition of marked structures, warns owners to vacate immediately

The ministry of works and infrastructure Enugu State, has given a final notice to the general public, particularly property owners, residents and business owners in the affected areas, that the Enugu State Government is commencing the demolition of marked structures.
The affected structures are located along the 44.1km Nike Lake Road dualization Project (Peenox – Nowas – Ugwogo – Opi Nsukka dualization, Abakpa Nike – Opi Nsukka Junction) and also the marked structures along the 21.5km Enugu Airport Road Flyover Bridge – Eke Obinagu – Owo Junction – Amechi Idodo – Ebonyi State Border within 24 hours.
The Public relations officer ministry of works and infrastructure Enugu State, Ngozi Ngene made this known in a statement signed and sent to newsmen in Enugu on Monday
The information officer emphasized that “It is important to note that this is a follow-up to our earlier notifications issued on October 30, 2024. Additionally, a field inspection and evaluation of structures for compensation purposes were conducted from November 4 to November 11, 2024.
“You are hereby advised to remove all your belongings and vacate the premises with immediate effect to avoid damage and/or loss of life.
The ministry of works, Enugu state however directed the citizens to channel all their complaints to the Land/Property Reconciliation and Compensation Committee, Abuja Building, Government House Enugu.
