Ebonyi: Nwifuru task S’ Court Justices to take decisions that will promote Peace, Unity in Nigeria

The Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has called on the Justices of the Supreme Court to continue to take decisions that will strengthen the peace and unity of the country.

The Governor was speaking at a reception organized in honour of Justice Festus Obande Ogbuinya who was sworn in as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Justice Ogbuinya from Ebonyi State, South East Nigeria was among the eleven Justices sworn-in by the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola at the Supreme Court Complex, Abuja.

Governor Nwifuru pointed out that the nation’s judiciary over the years had taken critical decisions that ensured the stability of the country, urging them not to relent in the in the interest of the nation.

“The positions of the Supreme Court Justices is no longer about the law, it is combined with policies and best decisions that will strengthen democracy and unite our country.”.

He expressed confidence in the ability of Justice Ogbuinya to deliver on the new assignment considering his antecedents in justice delivery.

” I know Justice Obande as one who is competent and has done well in legal profession. That is what gave Ebonyi people hope that he will do them proud. I want to also promise Nigerians that he will not fail.”

He called on the people of the State to always pray for Justice Ogbuinya and avoid actions that are capable of distracting him.

” Even me as a Governor I will not call his phone , therefore I encourage all of you to also do the same”

The Chairman of the Occasion and Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Justice Tijiani Abubakar described Justice Ogbuinya as an asset to the legal profession, saying his elevation will add value to the apex Court.

” Not just because I am here to make remarks, in all my interactions with Justice Ogbuinya, I have never had any negative thing about him. He is an asset who will add value to situations at the Supreme Court. Today I am happy to say we have eleven Justices who will now help to reduce the burden on us”.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that the event was attended by top government functionaries , including the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Princess Patricia Onyemachi Obila.
