Ebonyi: ‘No Ezza man will contest 2027 Guber election against Gov. Nwifuru -Ex-PDP Guber aspirant, Nwonu vows

The former gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last 2023 general election, Edwin Nwonu has vowed that no man from Ezza nation will contest the forthcoming 2027 governorship election against the incumbent governor, Francis Nwifuru.

The former House of Representatives member, Nwonu who represented Ishielu/ Ezza north federal constituency in the national assembly, made this known while speaking with newsmen in Ezza north during the local government campaign rally that took place at the council headquarters of Ezza north LGA.

He stated that the reason why the prominent sons and daughters of Ezza nation are supporting the governor, Francis Nwifuru, was because of his good leadership style and the way he is uniting the founding fathers/ prominent stakeholders of the state.

According to him: “The governor, Francis Nwifuru is doing well, that’s why you can see major stakeholders of Ezza north LGA, and the leaders of Ebonyi State to come together to support him and to develop the state to an enviable height.

“I was a member of PDP, and a house of representatives member and represented Ezza north/ Ishielu federal constituency from 2015 to 2023. I contested for governorship in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, but I saw the good works the governor, Francis Nwifuru is doing and some of us decided to come to support him for the interest of Ebonyians.

“We will support the governor, Francis Nwifuru, to go for eight years, after that it will get to an Ezza man. We are meeting regularly and we have resolved that no Ezza man will contest in 2027” he stated.

The former house of representatives member, Nwonu also commended the council chairman of Ezza north local government area, Ogodo-Ali Nomeh for uniting the people, which according to him has enhanced peace and order in the council.

“The chairman of Ezza north local government is also doing very well at the grassroots, especially in bringing the elders, youths and leaders of Ezza north together. There is peace and order now in the local government area” he stressed.
