The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Adamawa/Taraba Area Command has made a significant breakthrough in its anti-smuggling operations, seizing items valued at N104,456,550.

The seized items include 36,835 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and 101 pieces of raw donkey skins.

The PMS, packed in 1,219 jerry cans and 24 drums, was intended for smuggling into a neighboring country. The donkey skins, packed in seven sacks, represent the slaughter of 101 donkeys and are considered a threat to biodiversity and the economy.

The seized PMS has been auctioned to the public, with the remaining stock set for auction post-briefing. Proceeds from the auction will be remitted to the federation account.

The Command’s success is attributed to intelligence-driven operations, modern technology, and collaboration with other NCS units and security agencies.

The Area Controller appealed to the press for continued support through positive journalism and called on patriotic Nigerians and legitimate traders to join the fight against illicit trade.

This collective effort aims to protect the economy and security of Nigeria. The NCS remains committed to its role as a facilitator of legitimate trade and an anti-smuggling crusader, working tirelessly to safeguard the nation’s economic interests.
