CROSIEC announces Oct 26 for LG polls in Cross River

The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) has presented a notice of election for the 2024 local government councils election in the state.
Making the presentation, the commission chairman, Dr Ekong Edet Boco announced October 26, 2024 as the date for the conduct of local government election in the state
Announcing the date for the election at the commission headquarters in Calabar during a stakeholders meeting composed of State chairmen and secretaries of political parties, members of civil societies, IPAC and the press. The CROSIEC Chairman,Dr. Ekong Edet Boco, said,
“in keeping with the provisions of section 197 (1) (b) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, Cross River State Government reconstituted the State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) with the aim of organizing, supervising and to undertake the 2024 local government councils election in the State”.
Boco noted that the process of a successful election is often undertaken by different institutions, without which the selection process may not be acceptable by all.
He reiterated the need for a good and rancor free election, maintaining that election is not war, “so we need a peaceful environment to achieve a credible and acceptable election in Cross River”, he stated.
He therefore called for cooperation, support and understanding from all the stakeholders so that the commission can deliver on their mandate of conducting a free fair transparent and credible local government election in the state
