C’River:  Uniport varsity Alumni elects New Excos

The Cross River State Chapter of the University of Port Harcourt Alumni Association has elected a new Executive to drive the affairs of the association in the next few years 

Addressing journalists shortly after their inauguration, the association’s new president, Sunny Egor – Oyama promised to donate books worth millions of naira to the Cross River State Library complex, as a way of contributing their quota to educational advancement in the state and nation at large.

The alumni president stressed that the books would assist young ones who may be in school but lack reading materials to help themselves.

The gynaecologist consultant at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) stated that the students can visit the library complex at regular intervals to access the books to aid their studies.

 In his words, “We have  plans  to make a donation of such books to the state library.

“We can have a section where these books will be kept so that young ones who may not have the finances to buy such books can go there from time to time to access the books at regular intervals. That will help them in their studies”. He maintained”.

He said that the alumni under his watch shall distribute learning and reading materials to secondary students and others pursuing similar programmes that the members of the alumni studied.

In his remarks the association’s Secretary General, Francis Ekok, who spoke in company of the immediate past president of the  state branch of Uniport Alumni Association, Victor Edim Esq assured that the alumni will embark on a membership drive to gather its alumni in the state irrespective of their locations.

“We will go for more members, so that we can have more members to  participate  in our programs.

He stressed  that the new exco will re-energize the chapter to align  with programmes of the national leadership led  by Senator Nwokocha, and assured that the new exco will initiate an open door policy where all members of the alumni will be carried along.
