C’River: Police order arrest of woman flogging an indecent dressed girl in viral video

The Commissioner of police, Cross River state, CP  Augustine Grimah, has ordered the arrest and investigation of a woman seen in a viral video flogging an indecently dressed girl, Miss Queen.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that, Mis Queen was allegedly subjected to a physical assault by the woman and her group.

The Commissioner  gave the order while reacting to the trending video of the lady assaulting the Miss Queen.

Grimah stressed that the arrest will assist the police ascertain circumstances  surrounding the  disturbing incident and bring the perpetrators of the act to justice.

The commissioner who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO SP Irene Ugbo, said, ” The police commissioner wishes to address the recent viral video circulating on social media, which depicts a girl, identified as Miss Queen, being subjected to physical assault by a group of girls while in a hotel room. 

A letter by the police command sighted by our reporter with Ref. No AZ:5250/CRS/PPRD/VOL.17/247  dated August 22,2024 reads “The girl, visibly half-naked in the video, is being flogged for reasons that are currently under investigation so that perpetrator of this act can be brought to justice.

The Commissioner  called for vigilance by  players of the hospitality industry urging them to take  proactive measures in profiling and conducting background checks on  guests who visit their facility.

“This step is crucial in preventing such disturbing incidents from occurring within their premises” The CP maintained.

In the meantime, the victim has been provided with the necessary medical attention and is receiving medical attention in one of the hospitals in the Càlabar metropolis.

The commissioner promised to make the results of findings  of the incident known to  members of the public

“We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and upholding justice in our society”. The commissioner added.
