C’River Police Command debunks alleged fraud, embezzlement of fund by officers
From Ene Ene, Calabar
The Cross River State police command has said that allegation of fraud leveled against Commander of Operation Akpakwu SP Elemi, of pocketing allowances meant for other officers and committing other infractions was not true
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, debunked the allegations in Calabar while reacting to the allegations.
The command stated that the allegation trending on different blogs that Eremi pocketed money meant for colleagues was nothing but false.
The Cross River State Police Command regards this report as not only damaging and misleading, but also a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the command in Cross River State.
CP. Grimah who spoke through the Police Public Relations Officer Police PPRO SP Irene Ugbo, stated that it’s absurd for anyone to accuse the command of being involved in fraud allegation.
A statement signed by the police PPRO Irene Ugbo, dated June 3,2024 stated that, in response to the allegations of fraud, the Cross River State commissioner of Police, inaugurated an investigation panel to look into the allegations.
“The panel headed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Intelligence, ACP Eugene Ubine, has been tasked with conducting a thorough investigation to establish the veracity of the allegations and to restore the integrity of the Force.
“CP Gyogon Grimah reaffirms the Command’s commitment to zero tolerance for extortion and all forms of corrupt practices, as strongly condemned by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adealu Egbetokun.
“This stance is firmly upheld within the Cross River State Police Command under his leadership.
“The Command is determined to ensure there is no place for any erring and unethical police personnel.
“The CP assures the public that the findings of the investigation will be made public upon conclusion”. The statement maintained.
