C’River APC Chairman, Eba accuses ward chairmen of embezzlement

The State chairman of All Progressives Congress( APC) in cross river, Alphonsus ogar Eba has accused the 18 ward chairmen of APC in the State of allegedly embezzling over 60,000000 million Naira being monies meant for ward and some chapter Executives
Eba in a statement said because of the fraudulent attitude of these chapter chairmen in the state, they are forced to pay party executives’ salaries directly to their account
“We now pay all party Executives numbering 5, 778 salaries directly into their account and we have paid all of them up to date. But the 17 chapter chairmen salaries is being held until they clear themselves over the fraud alleged against them” he maintained

He alleged that Chapter chairmen collect LGA appointees dues of more than 4 million monthly and squander without taking care of other executives at the Chapter and ward level
According to him, “they collect 3,600, 000 from some quarters and squander causing a disproportionate salary structure that is in excess of what State Executive Committee members earn”.
“This is against the spirit of our administration and our commitment for transparency and accountability”.
He said no chapter chairman has the power to call for the resignation of the State Chairman or State Executive Committee member, on the contrary, the state executive committee has full powers to discipline and sanction them and this will be done immediately.
Meanwhile, the 18 chapter chairmen and 17 Secretaries of APC in the State have called for the resignation of Barrister Alphonsus Eba over what the described as lost of trust and confidence on the state Chairman
In a communique issued by the 35 chapter executives comprising of 18 chairmen and 17 secretaries
“Arising from a very crucial meeting. We, the Forum of APC Chapter Chairmen and Secretaries Cross River State as critical stakeholders of our great Party APC in the Sate deemed it extremely necessary to make this communique on the above stated subject matter”.
They accused the state Chairman of refusing to pay party stipends to Party Officials at the Chapter and Ward levels for three (3) months which has crippled the running of the Party offices and welfare of the Party Officials with grave economic consequences.
They are also accusing Eba of refusal to remit the percentage meant for the Local Government Areas and Wards from the sales of forms during the 2023 General Elections and other sundry remittances from the National Secretariat which they said are unaccountable among others
They pledged their unflinching loyalty and continuous commitment and support to the leader of the Party in Cross River State, Prince Bassey Edet Otu
