Breaking: Alia forwards 8 commissioner nominees to Assembly for screening

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia on Friday, announced the forwarding of list of 8 commissioners nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
The governor in a statement on Friday August 1st, 2025 by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, listed the names of the nominees for the first batch as Theresa Odachi Ikwue, Benjamin Ashaver, Adamu Margaret Ijaguwa, Peter Oboh Egbodo, Yangien Timothy Ornguga and Denis Iyaighgba as well as James Dwem and Paul Ejeh Ogwuche.
He maintained that the development marked a significant step in enhancement of the machinery of governance and ensuring effective service delivery across various sectors.
Governor Alia further announced that the second batch of nominees is expected to be forwarded to the House of Assembly in a matter of days.
“The Governor reaffirms his administration’s commitment to transparency, competence, and inclusivity in the selection of individuals who will drive his vision and mission for the state”, the statement concluded.
It would be recalled that Governor Alia had on Wednesday 30th July, sacked all the Commissioners in the State Executive Council, including his chief of staff and appointed a former two term Attorney General of the state and Commissioner for Justice, Moses Atagher as his new Chief of Staff.
