Benue govt. embarks on construction of brewery to boost economy

Benue state government led by governor, Hyacinth Alia said it has embarked on the construction of brewery with the desire to boost the economy of the state.

The Nations News Nigeria reports that the brewery located at Akile community, km 16 Makurdi – Gboko road, Benue state.

The State government through Benue Investment and Property Company(BIPC) had in May 2024, announced that the state need about N800 million to set up the beer factory which would be ready on or before December, 2024. 

The Managing Director, BIPC, Raymond Asemakaha, who spoke to newsmen while inspecting the factory construction, said the company will invite the Benue public to sample the beer in  20 days to come.

According to him, the sampling of the beer will be done by the people of the state, in five different locations across the state, which are yet to be made known by the company.

Asemakaha however urged the people of the state to take advantage of the development and engage in the farming of sorghum and casava, which are some of the basic raw materials needed to brew the beer.

The managing director, however reiterated the committed efforts of governor Alias’s administration to see that the project is completed on schedule.

He added that the factory when completed  will provide direct jobs for hundreds of youths; have a backward integration for thousands of Benue farmers, and contribute to the growth of the economy in line with the vision of governor  Hyacinth  Alia.

The BIPC boss noted that the construction of the brewery is a significant milestone in the development of Benue State and is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the people.

He was conducted around the project site by Arch Jerry Iosun, who is the head of  department, Real Estate and Infrastructure as well as Philip Zegejir, the Project Programme Manager.
