The Bauchi State Indigenes based in Zaria, Kaduna State, called the Zaar Youth Development Association (ZAYODA), on Tuesday urged their members not to participate in the nationwide hunger protest scheduled to hold 1st to 10th August 2024.

The group made this known in a statement signed by the chairman of the association, Dhnnigwa Basu Ibrahim, and issued to newsmen in Bauchi.

The statement reads, “Every citizen of this country has the right to protest peacefully, but this planned protest is coming at a time when so many people are too angry with the government.”

Adding that, “This is the reason why our elders and religious leaders are calling on the youth to stop the protest because some people are planning to hijack it and cause pain to Nigerian citizens by looting and killing innocent Nigerians.”

Ibrahim called on their members to shun the planned protest and follow the path of dialogue with the federal government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The stakeholders are working round the clock to ensure that the government meets all the demands of the youth.”

“Stock your houses with food and other essentials, avoid crowded places to avoid being attacked or chased by security agents, and caution your children and younger ones to stay indoors.” He said.

He advised the youths of the community not to partake in the protest and to allow the government to tackle the problem.

The leader, Dhnnigwa Basu Ibrahim, urged the government to quickly do something to ameliorate the suffering of the people.
